Leo Guide: What to Read, Watch, Wear, and Do To Take Full Advantage of Your Season

We know how special your birthday is, so we’re sharing a monthly run-down of everything you should wear, read, watch, and do to celebrate your big day. Tune in every month as we share a guide to having the best birthday month, all according to your zodiac sign.

Ah, Leo season, we meet again. I suddenly have a God complex, want to wear my best outfits, and feel a lot bolder than usual—it’s the magic of the Lion. Leos have no problem making an entire month about them, so our job was easy: just find the coolest, boldest things on the Internet. Here’s how to make the most of your season (because you deserve it):

What to Read

Grace Miceli

How to Deal: With Fear, Failure, and Other Daily Dreads

Leos aren't necessarily into self-help; they already think they have everything figured out. But they know dealing with themselves can be a lot, and that's exactly what this book discusses. This book takes self-help and flips it on its head, including comic strips, quotes, diary entries, lists, and more to illustrate how to finally deal with everything we have going on in our lives. It's a must-read for people who want to figure their sh*t out without really admitting they have to figure their sh*t out.

Sheila Williams

The Secret Women

Three women meet in a yoga class, quickly discovering they all just lost their mothers. They spark a quick friendship and vow to meet once a week to go through their mothers' old belongings. Through old diaries and letters, they each discover their mothers had secrets that could change their lives. It puts them on a journey of self discovery, grief, and friendship that Leos will find heartwarming and powerful.

P. J. Vernon

Bath Haus

Leos want to read something spicy, different, and unique—and "Bath Haus" is exactly that and some. Everything seems perfect with this couple, but then Oliver attends a gay bathhouse with the intention to cheat on his loving partner, Nathan. It goes terribly wrong, and he's left with a giant bruise on his neck, and so begins his web of lies that spiral out of control.

What to Watch

1. Gossip Girl 2.0

What it’s all about: Whether you were a die-hard GG fan in the 2000s or not, you’ll be able to jump into this show with an all-new cast. Following a group of new teens at Constance Billard, the infamous Gossip Girl returns in a whole new format: on Instagram and Twitter.

Reasons Leos will love it: impeccable fashion, lots of rich people drama, and steamy scenes we didn’t get in the original.

2. Gunpowder Milkshake

What it’s all about: An assassin (Karen Gillan) reunites with her dangerous mother (Lena Headey) when an 8-year-old girl is in danger from an elite group of hitmen.

Reasons Leos will love it: badass women, seeing Cersei Lannister in a new role, and fight scenes galore.

3. Outer Banks

What it’s all about: Following John B. and Sarah Cameron after they fled to the Bahamas, the Pogues search for the Royal Merchant’s treasure and try to take down Ward Cameron once and for all.

Reasons Leos will love it: extremely hot people, treasure hunt, and beachy vibes

What to Wear

You should always expect a Leo to show up in the coolest outfit. If they don’t, something’s wrong. Leos have a knack for fashion, color, and trends, and they have no problem bringing it into their lives, whether it’s to a fancy date night or a walk to the dog park. They’re not opposed to practicality, but it’s not their end goal either. They just want to look and feel their best (and they will in these three outfits, for sure).

Day:

white tee / neon blazer / denim shorts / wavy earrings / sunglasses / sneakers

Night:

dress / heeled sandals / chain bag / lariat necklace

Lounge:

sports bra / bike shorts / sweatshirt / slides / water bottle

What to Do

1. Make your own cocktail

Leos want to celebrate themselves however they can, and it might just be with some adult libations or a special mocktail. But they’re not about the classics—they want a drink that feels unique to them, especially during their birth month. So make your namesake cocktail, whether it’s a twist on your favorite or something totally new. Play around with it and definitely invite your friends over for a tasting. They’re going to want to try this.

A few summery cocktail options you can try: a prickly pear margarita, spicy pineapple and jalapeno cocktail, and a citrus champagne punch (because who doesn’t love some birthday bubbly?).

2. Take your workout routine outside

Get out of the gym, your living room, or the yoga studio and soak up some of that summer sunshine Leos are so lucky to be born in. Your workout doesn’t even have to be intense. If the temperatures are a little too hot where you live, opt for a long walk or simulate an outdoor workout by opening the windows and feeling a little bit of the sunshine where you can.

3. Take a day trip

No matter where you live in the U.S., a summer road trip is always a good idea. Put on your best loungewear, pack up your current reads, and pick up some snacks for a long ride ahead. Whether it’s to a beach, a lake, the mountains, or the city, a short trip to somewhere new will invigorate you, especially if you’re getting a little in your feels about the passage of time (we know you are).
